Catching up with Victoria

Years ago, in another lifetime, Tom was involved in a show, Jekyll and Hyde in Concert., which was in 2004, or around then, in New York City. It toured around select cities. It was a great experience because of the music which we love, but beyond that... we met some really great people.

One of the girls who was in the show, Victoria Matlock, has been in many shows since then. A favorite of mine is "The Marvelous Wonderettes" She played Cindy Lou, and had an original cast recording from that show.  She went on National Tour of Evita with Hal Prince. Then she played Elphaba in the traveling tour of Wicked. Now, she is playing Dyanne in the Million Dollar Quartet.

She has been in New York since 1999, so you see, she has been a very busy girl!! When we were planning our recent trip to New York, we checked to be sure she was going to be in her  show , THE MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET, before we got tickets. When she said that she would indeed be there, we got our tickets. FIrst row, center! Great to be so close, but you leave the show, with your neck hurting from looking up so much!! It was a great, entertaining show, fun to listen to the music of Johnny Cash, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins.

So you can see it was a fun night!!
The next night, Victoria met us for a quick drink before she had to be at the theatre for the 8:00 show. Our time with her was the highlight of our trip for Tom and me. I told her that she could be our daughter, being about the same age as our oldest son, Tommy.!! But to talk to her, to listen to her talk about her life, her dreams, her thoughts, you would have thought she was much older.
I couldn`t help but feel proud of her, as I would my own, and as I know her Mom must surely be! It has been a pleasure to watch up grow these last 8 years since we first met her.  She is so talented. She not only sings beautifully,  she loves to design and make things... She even has her own etsy shop where she makes custom jewelry! She was carrying a leather purse that she had made when we met up with her.  Yep, she is my kind of girl!! God has blessed her with so many talents. It was a pleasure for us to be able to spend a little time with her.
I look forward to keeping up with her talents and seeing where God will open up doors for her.
It is funny that in the hustle and bustle of busy New York City, so many people, so many places to go and see.... when you have a moment inside the life of an actress, it is refreshing to find such a sweet, talented young lady, who has  ambitions, dreams, just like the rest of us!
So, in closing, thank you, Victoria, for a special night in New York City with you!!
    Have a great week,
    Love,
