Apartment Back Porch living

Last weekend, I was able to visit Lara in Knoxville for a few days. It was a late celebration of her 23rd birthday. We had a good time shopping for a few things for her apartment, and of course, we looked for new clothes for her and shoes for me...

As she is anticipating her next year in this apartment, she was trying to fix up the outside porch to be able to sit out there and enjoy. Only problem being, it faces the parking lot! So, privacy was a must... She had already found some blinds and stretched them sideways to cover the rails. She even found some strings of lights and had them twisted along the top of the rail for some dim lights out there. After she found and purchased a rocker from Kroger (!!), it was already beginning to take shape. Our job was looking for a few extras to embellish. She had some pillows from a garage sale that she bought for $4 but they were a bit flat. Instead of buying new fluffy ones, we found two bed pillows at Big Lots, and stuffed them into the pillows to make them look like new. We found a really pretty rug at Lowes, it was our splurge, a little over $100 but it made the look complete. It had a touch of red, like the glider, and some orange and  grassy green colors.. We got 4 burlap looking panels at Big Lots, for $12 each.... with a PCPipe, cut the lenght of the porch for the rod, those panels were hung and added the privacy that she needed. Two bicycle hooks were already there, so she moved them over to hang the PCPipe on for the curtains.  I think she did a great job and I see many nights out there with friends, just hanging....

Have a great day,
