Recycled Boards from the trash!

I was in Home Depot the other day and walked by the wood area. As I glanced into the big trash bin, in with all the trash were all these little square pieces of wood about 6x6. I asked the guy in that department when I finally found someone, if he would care if I got them out of the trash can. He told me that he didn`t have problem with it at all but I should just go to the check out counter with Elba, and tell her that he said it was alright.....So, I pulled out about 13 perfect little squares, not knowing exactly what I was going to do with them, but excited all the same to have gotten them for free...
This afternoon, I pulled some of them out and started sanding.

Then I gave the wood blocks a good base coat of white acrylic paint. I put a little color on them and then gave some heavy brush strokes of white in the middle of each one. By then, they were beginning to take on a little shape and I could visualize the finished product. I added some little flesh heads, put the features on the faces then topped them off with some halos.

I think I will mod podge these little pictures and stick them away for Christmas! It was a fun afternoon with my little angels.
