Hoover , AL 35226 right off of Shades Crest Road.
We found Cecily Chaney, through a referral from a friend, and went to check her out. She was not there that day but we were given the tour and saw all the studios and met a few of the artist who were there working. We went away excited to come back and be a part of one of the classes.
We talked with Cecily several times and she set us up for class on yesterday. This could be her only class for a while since she is in the process of talking to a big department store about carrying her line of jewelry! How exciting for her... She showed us many of her pieces that she would be taking for them...
There were 4 of us in the class and one young girl who was quiet but very talented as she started to listen and make her own version of her piece.
We all started out with a long strip of copper, 1x5 inches. We cut the top 1 1 /2 inch off to work with for our pendant. We cut, dimpled, drilled the holes, hammered, pickled, and then formed our piece around the stone
. It was a "cold connection class" and we didn`t know exactly what that meant but found out that it is just forming the metal around the stone, no glue involved.
We had about 45 minutes left in class and Cecily said we could use the left over copper to cut out whatever we wanted.
so ... we went to town in a hurry and finished our other pieces!
It was a fun morning, and we left anxious to make more.
Lisa finished her pieces and put a string of pearls on her pendant. They looked great!!
Have a great day!!
Love,
